2020-06-08 building a retro game tv with raspberry pi

I added a Raspberry Pi to an old Palladium 500 TV to build a retro gaming PC. The Palldium 500 TV is powered with 12V DC. For the Pi I use a 12 to 5V DCDC converter.

The composite output of the Pi is fed into the TV alongside the TV-tuner output. Since analog TV is long gone here in Germany, I think its ok to modify the device to get some new use out of it.

Finding the right spot for inserting the PAL Signal was not so easy. But with some patience, help and measuring it was possible.

The featured games tetris and pong are based on pygame and adapted for the two USB gamepads.

All the sourcecode for the gamepad controls and the games can be found here
