about me
Robert Scheibe
Diplom Mediensystemwissenschaftler
I studied media systems at the Bauhaus-University Weimar from October 2000
to May 2006. My main focus was on virtual reality. I am especially
interested in the design of human computer interface solutions.
For my diploma thesis I have developed a tactile feedback mechanism for the
A.R.T. fingertracking glove using shape memory
alloys. Despite the low bandwidth of shape memory alloys, I found a
solution how to use them in immersive CAVE-like environments.
Since August 2006 I'm employed at the Advanced Realtime Tracking GmbH in Weilheim, Germany. I developed a tactile feedback system as successor of the system I've done in my diploma thesis. From 2009 until 2011 I was involved in the Avilus project, founded by the German government (BMfBF), promoting the Motion Capturing capabilities of ART.
Since 2012 I was head of the Hardware Development Department at ART, responsible for the hardware development of ARTtrack5, ARTtrack6/m, Smarttrack3 and more.
In March 2023 I joined the general management focusing on development and IT.
I'm interested in exploring technical systems. I try to understanding them and love to do repairs in case they break.
